Weekend in London

Hey there!

Hopefully this post will be slightly more interesting than my previous one about results day and almost definitely more upbeat so I hope you enjoy.

Friday:

This weekend I am staying with my aunt and uncle in their flat in Blackheath near Greenwich. I met my aunt outside her office next to the Thames that has a view of Tower Bridge and The Tower of London along with many cool looking offices and cranes across the river. I was slightly early so I sat facing the Thames and there was a Summer Festival happening so I watched all the tourists and took in the buzzing atmosphere and music and generally had a chill time.












Also, there were a small group of trees that have colourful lampshades hanging from the branches which is so adorable and I am guessing is some form of art installation and it is so cute.

That night we went to an Argentinian restaurant called Cau and being an Argentinian place we had steak which I really enjoyed. My aunt and uncle live close enough to Blackheath high street to walk and the stroll back is really nice especially considering the evenings have been so warm here.

Saturday:

Today we went to Canary Wharf with my aunt (while my uncle did some work) at around lunch time and went to a cafe called Leon and had fish finger wraps which was a huge throwback as I haven't had one for such a long time. We went into Zara and bought some really cool jeans, a shirt and a jacket which I really love. We were planning to go to Oxford Street but Canary Wharf so not busy and we knew Oxford street would be so we hung around there for a bit rather than going to such a packed place.
In the evening we went back to the flat before going out again with my uncle this time and we went to Greenwich, grabbed a small bite to eat and went to a sweet little independent cinema called The Picture House and saw a film called War Dogs with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller which was epic! I really recommend the film because it had a mix of everything including action and comedy brought together by a good acting cast. There was also a good soundtrack that had songs from The Who and Pink Floyd which definitely aided the film. Also it is based on a true story which is absolutely insane but I really recommend you see it!

Sunday:

I didn't wake up until nearly 10.00am today which is super late for me and we got ready and all three of us went to a farmers market which was really nice as I occasionally work on a pie stall so it was weird being on the other side of the tables for a change! We got some really nice bread, meat and vegetables that we know are fresh, organic and where applicable free range as well as some deli stuff such as olives and Greek dips from a nearby cafe.

We had breakfast at Cau which do very good breakfasts and from where we were sitting there was a view of people going about their life on the Heath itself which is always funny to watch.
There is a really sweet book shop called the bookshop on the Heath which has lots of very old and/or very rare books with leather bindings and stuff so we always like to go and look in there just to see what there is.


In the afternoon we just chilled at the flat before having a barbecue of some of the food we bought today and ended the evening with a movie marathon of Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Top Gun, The Lost Boys and Silver Bullet which my aunt and uncle were in shock to learn that I hadn't seen such 'classic' films.

Sorry for such a long post but I had such a good time I got carried away at some points when writing. If you enjoyed this post half as much as I enjoyed the weekend then you must have enjoyed it quite a lot!

Results Day

Hi guys!

So today is results day and my results are released at 10.00am. It's now 9.00am so collecting my results is getting close! At the moment I'm not that nervous but I am about to leave and meet my friends at school, some of which I haven't seen for nearly three months which is crazy. Anyway, wish me luck!

The time is now 3.00pm and the reason I have left it so long after before writing this is working out how I feel has been hard because the general message I have got from my teachers and parents is I should have achieved better grades but I should still be pleased with what I have got. In theory this makes sense but trying to be proud of myself while still having a part of me knowing I haven't got the best results for me is hard. For this blog to have any meaning I need to be totally honest and raw with you and myself so I can know how I really felt when I look back so I am going to post my grades on here but it wasn't something I was planning to do this morning. So here goes:

English Language:                  A

Business Studies:                  B

Spanish:                                D
Chemistry:                             C

Biology:                                 C
Maths:                                   B

I know a majority of those grades are respectable and I am pleased with them as I do get to take the A-Level courses I want to and I suppose that means I have done what I needed to do. Maybe part of the reason I feel this way is because two years have built up to this moment and all the hard work and pressure have led to an anti-climax of sorts where I feel like I have been left hanging, waiting for something that isn't going to come. It's a strange feeling, I'm not sad or overly disappointed but almost as if I am missing something. Maybe that is what this kind of disappointment feels like.

Anyway, beside that I am very thinking positive thoughts about my grades and A-levels really so sorry about this negative post but it's how I feel and sorry if it doesn't make sense but I forewarned you about rambling! On the plus side the sun is starting to come out here which is a reason in itself to be grateful considering the track record of British weather.

I am with my Auntie and Uncle in London this weekend so hopefully some more positive posts and maybe even some cool pictures!

Hey there!

If you're reading this then hello, I hope you are having a nice day! My name is Emily and this blog is mainly for me to look back at memories in the future and hopefully take a trip down memory lane, so I've named this blog Memory Box because that's what it is going to be for me, an online space where I store memories that in the past, before the internet, would have been put into a cute little box and placed delicately upon a shelf. I know I could still do that now but eh, I like being online.

This blog will have photos of things I do, ramblings of things I have enjoyed, seen, experienced or disliked (although I am going to keep negativity to a minimum!), things I buy that are cool that I want to share and generally create a little collection of my life's moments.

The past two years of my life I have spent doing my GCSE's in years 10 and 11 and secondary school. At the beginning of these two years I thought to myself that these years are going to drag and they are going to take forever but in less than a week I get my results for my exams and the beginning of my A-Levels loom ahead. I cannot believe how fast the past two years have gone and it's kinda scary so I thought if I can record some of the next two years of my life I will have more of a record to show for it than some semi-irrelevant grades on some bits of paper. So I suppose what I am trying to say is that my goal for this blog is to consistently post for the next two years during the course of my A-levels.

I do try and do lots of fun stuff so hopefully if you're still reading this in the future you find some stuff interesting that you want to read but there's no guarantee!

This first post is a good example of how much I wittle on but hopefully there will be many more fun and exciting entries in the next two years!
